Cue, eternal punishment means they are not coming back. Think about someone that is put in jail for a sentence of five years or so. They are punished, but it's not an eternal punishment and eventually they will get out if they are still living. The punishment for those not saved, is eternal death, destruction, they will be no more.

What is the highest form of punishment in our land called? The death sentence or capital punishment. So the eternal punishment I believe the bible talks about, is an eternal death sentence.

Romans 6:
20For when you were slaves of sin, you were free in regard to righteousness. 21But what fruit were you getting at that time from the things of which you are now ashamed? For the end of those things is death. 22But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the fruit you get leads to sanctification and its end, eternal life. 23For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

It doesn't say the end of those things is eternal torment, but death!

One time my grandmother, who had the same view of hell as I did, was questioned by her pastor and he said, "So you don't believe in hell?" And she said, "Oh no pastor, I most certainly believe in hell, I just believe it's hot enough to actually burn you up!"

So just like my grandmother, I believe hell is hot enough to burn you up and that it's eternal! Those that go to hell are not coming back, ever.
