Yeah that happens all the time. The mercury therm is prob the most accurate. If youve taken you temp often enough to know what yout normal temp is then you can correct by adding or subtracting on a different therm reading.

A particular therm should at least giive a consistant reading. Like take a reading five times in the span of 15 mins when youre feeling normal and if it gives you a different reading each time toss it!
