Hi - I live in UK and cannot find any local support or medical advice on water fasting. I have read Dr Furhman's book and have embarked upon my initial Water Fast with aim to help/resolve my high Blood Pressure --- which is still around 145-90 even taking several GP prescribed meds. I also have incident of BP 'spiking' which the GP seems to have no explanation for and seems rather disinterested.
So --- my question is on current BP meds during the fast.
One of these is a diuretic -- which I have read impacts on function of your kidney -- as well as the obvious water retention stuff.
From Dr Furhman's Fasting for Health book -- he says that waterfasting fixes BP because it helps the kidney to return to normal function.
I am therefore concerned that the presecribed diuretic I am taking will stop this benefit happening during my fast.
Therefore -- do I try to wean of the diuretic during the fast??
If I go to my GP he will 100% tell me to stop fasting -- as he does not believe in it.
MUCH APPRECIATE any advice!!!!
I am on day 3 of this Water Fast -- and only intending to do 7 days (as unsupervised -- and no other options I can find here) -- so am looking for advice asap on possible impact of my diuretics.
MANY THANKS
Marky
