Dear DL, that all makes sense to me. While I've not studied leaky gut syndrome in-depth, my experience bears it out (Chron's is like immediate food karma. I'm actually fortunate to have such a sensitive barometer as to whether or not this is something I should eat).

The most intense depressions of my life were thanks to a grain-heavy diet. I get my carbohydrates now from fruits and sap sugars (and vegetables, of course). I love the zingy, upright feeling one gets from a fresh spinach salad. (Mmm, spinach).

Day two: Still no food. My water's got minerals in it so I don't know if that's good or bad. I'm not fretting about it. I had nightmares about food last night--weird ones. Pizza, which is my drug of choice, so maybe my subconscious is working it out? (My conscious mind right now is grossed out by my nightmare).

Keto: yes on the animal flesh. I think, too, that I may have to say farewell to cheese forever. It doesn't disagree with me as such, but it sits heavy and waxy in my stomach and I don't get that little spike in body energy I like from eating agreeable, digestible foods.

Many naturalists are against beans, because of the anti-nutrients, but beans seem to like me. I never have any of the infamous beany side-effects. I'm going to test them when I break this fast to get an answer for myself on that issue: not looking for gas, but for that sun-burned sensation in my gut. What are your experiences?
