No it does not. Killing microbes in a petri dish is easy because its easy to have high concentrations of electrical power per square centimeter. When you treat the human body there are two limiting factors; 1) skin limits the amount of applied power because it burns easily. 2) the electricity spreads out on its path to reach the other electrode so that the concentration of electrical power per square centimeter is dilute.
There are four important factors when it comes to electromedicine:
1) electrical power (voltage and current)
2) total time of treatment
3) frequency
4) waveshape
Concerning electrical power, it is much easier to kill a skin infection than one deep in the body because the electricity near the electrode is still concentrated before it spreads out. The farther away from the electrode, the more spread out the electrical energy becomes.
