The form of pancreatic cancer Steve Jobs had was curable, and the mortality rates with treatment after pancreatic surgery for this form of cancer is the same as the average life span. This is according to others who had surgery with this same form of cancer..

I would agree that many surgeries are unnecessary to make money, but there are also many times when they do save lives.
