Indeed we all have different life experiences and we all do what we think is best. Perhaps the truth is somewhere in the middle.

I had plenty of times when I was hungry growing up, and no doubt it's influenced my body to ask me not to starve it any more. But we didn't have all the toxins today has either, so we didn't get sick like all the kids today, but not from not eating.

We were a bit more sickly than most of our peers, but of course no food usually means we couldn't afford proper supplements and such either.

And I base my decisions on what feels right to my body, not what somebody thinks I should do. So I advocate from that perspective. I say what worked best for me.

Of course, the different body types in the east Indian Ayurveda may have different tolerances. I'm a pita---my body's forte is metabolism.

It needs food, but I could see that a Kapha might enjoy fasting, as their body type has a slow metabolism (but strong muscles), which makes digesting food much more difficult, and the food often sits like a lump in the stomach. My sweetie has that body type, and our comfort level and ability to eat a big meal are very different.

I still advocate doing what feels right for your body. But realizing that difference does create some acknowledgement that perhaps there is some who it might benefit. But, from a pita's perspective, nope, it never worked for me. Give me even the lemonade to 'eat'. :) To thine own self be true, eh?

Thanks for persisting with your view point, though. I love expanding my knowledge and being called to considered another perspective is one very good way to do it.
