Well, in response to the black fly. You are absolutely correct. Your experience with these annoying creatures has allowed you to inform others about this pesky situation. You see, it's all base on demographics. In the city,you will find mice, roaches, waterbugs, fruit flies, bees, different types of mosquitoes and your average housefly. On the outskirts of the city, you will different types of bugs to deal with such as the field mouse, drain gnats, the black fly, stink bugs, carpenter bees, deer ticks, head life and etc. The fact that you were able to pinpoint what it was and studied the habits and nature of these bugs, makes you alot smarter than the Doctors that you visited. They probably, thought you were referring to bedbugs at the time and was scared of an infestation, taking place within their offices. All it takes is one person to spread them. However, you are not alone in this. I have too, experienced this for the first time in 2015. Didn't realize what was going on first. A new neighbor moved in above me and starting keeping their deck and apartment door open preparing raw foods that attracted flies, bees and etc. After awhile, we had flies and gnats everywhere and it was a nuisance to get rid of them. That's when I encountered that little black fly that hangs around the rim of your toilet, but didn't know what it was doing there until I showered with plenty of lather and after washing my private area, I spotted one in my washcloth. I had just used the toilet, before hoping into the shower. The reason, that I no longer saw the little fly, was because it had flew and attached itself to the crevice of my pubic area to probably feast and lay eggs there. So, I do all the things mentioned, by tying my hair and ears up at night and keep my nose covered where I can breathe, cleaning everything with bleach and place those blue things in my toilet and cover all drains, while not in use. Now, neighbors are moving out, they are resurfacing. They had stop for awhile and I had relief. Now, I too know what this pesky bug is, due to your diligent research and personal experience of them.
