I signed up for this forum just so I could share my experience after reading yours.
I started having sores (like burn blisters as the poster before mentioned) on the roof of my mouth about a week ago. This prompted me to search out if it had to do with the Mirena IUD.
I just had mine inserted Aug 24, 2015 to combat the effects of menopause. I was having horrible cramping and ended up in the ER. The pain was so bad all I wanted was a hysterectomy. The OB/GYN told me this IUD would probably get me through menopause without the pain. She was right, but, since then I have had a TON of horrible symptoms. Starting 7 weeks, post-insertion, I started breaking out in small patches of blister type bumps on my side and stomach. Those went away after a few weeks of pure torture where it wasn't just the bumps that itched, but I would literally not sleep at night because it felt as if my entire body was itching from the inside..and it felt like I had something crawling all over me!!!
At the same time my hair started falling out (still is.) Luckily I have a lot of hair to spare (though it is thin now.)
During these first couple of issues, I thought back to anything I had eaten, experienced, or done differently. The Mirena was the only thing that was different (well, aside from camping!)
I searched out,and found out the Mirena had the "hives" type symptoms for MANY women. The hair falling out? Also a side-effect.
Coincidence?
I told my OB/GYN about these symptoms. My Dr. is convinced I got into something camping. I don't think so. Was too centralized and felt as if it was on the inside (the itchy crawling all over my body feeling) I knew better. Hair falling out? Probably stress she said.
So, how do we now explain these blisters that are all over the roof of my mouth and hurt horribly?
Is this thing really that poisonous? Does it ever stop? Will the issues subside? I hate to think that I spent over $2,000 just for the IUD alone only to be poisoned. All I wanted was to stop cramping.
