There has been a lot of questions and discussion about what type of water to drink and the pH of water here on this and other forums.

What are types of water available?

There are a lot different types of waters available today on the market especially in the US. There are two major types of water. One, natural from a stream/spring/creek, another, manufactured. In the manufactured type you will find bottled tap water, spring water, vitamin water, re-mineralized water, smart water (brand name) and high pH waters (alkaline), etc.

Except for natural spring water all others are a waste of money and some may pose danger to your health. Many of these brands have been tested for their pH and majority of them are under 6.0 pH, meaning acidic. Mineralized water may be helpful in daily use but depends on where these minerals come from. All vitamin waters, smart water, etc are Kaiden with corn syrup and synthetic vitamins.

 So what is Alkaline water?

It is water that has been separated into alkaline and acid fractions using electrolysis, which takes advantage of the naturally occurring electric charges found in the magnesium and calcium ions. Then alkaline portion is separated and used (sold) for drinking use.

 What is pH?

pH is simply a measure of the concentration of hydrogen ions. “pH” is short for “potential of hydrogen.” The higher a liquid’s pH, the fewer free hydrogen ions it has; the lower its pH, the more free hydrogen ions it has. One pH unit reflects a tenfold change in ion concentration - for example, there are ten times as many hydrogen ions available at a pH of 7 than at a pH of 8.

The pH scale goes from 0 to 14, and a pH of 7 is neutral. Anything with a pH below 7 is considered acidic and anything with a pH above 7 is alkaline (or basic). Natural water on our planet ranges in pH from 6.5 to 9.0, depending on surrounding soil and vegetation, seasonal variations and weather, and even time of day responses to sunlight. Human activities further influence the pH of our water, from the barrage of toxic industrial pollutants. Natural water with high pH is found in many Himalayan lakes, Alps lakes, some creeks and other falling waters.

What is safe pH for drinking?

Most likely the optimal pH of the water you were designed to drink is somewhere between 6.5 and 8. Above or below this level may have other purposes, such as disinfection, but one should be careful drinking water outside of these ranges.

Both side outer ranges of pH are corrosive. Just think about drinking water with 9.5pH. Eventually it will damage your pipes inside your body. All pathology labs use a solution of 14pH to dissolve dead animal parts including bones. There are many reports on people drinking high pH manufactured water having chest pains, heart and kidney tissue damage. High alkalinity does not mean it is better choice for drinking.

Humans are driven to mimic nature but have always failed, so flow with the flow of natures design, don't fight it or even try to mimic it.

Knowing these facts, Fasters should drink either filtered water distilled water. Don’t take chances with all manufactured waters.

 Peace.
