But, like does not attract like, always, the cut and paste you did calls it a "cosmic principle", which is not a universal law. Erroneously interpreted, taken as an absolute statement, it is a false premise and all arguments based on a false premise are fallacious.

Electrons of negative charge attract with positively-charged particles, this is how electricity flows. Also, north and south magnet poles are opposite, yet they attract one another. Bass players don't attract other bass players, they attract drummers, guitarists and other musicians, because a band of all bass's would be boring and nobody would do it, the unlike attract. Males "attract" females, or vice versa, in many species, but they eventually also each go their own way - the attraction is temporary and necessary for proliferation of the species. The moon "attracts" the earth's oceans and causes a tide, but to date no water has been observed on the moon, so how does that fit in with "like attracts like" ? Does a helium balloon rise because it is attracted to the helium in the stars, or are there other factors at play ?

Same with thoughts, people who have the same thoughts, are boring, they all agree. It is presentation of unlike thoughts that people are attracted to, which also enables progress in the various arts. It is why naturopaths who do things differently can be successful and they will attract others. This would not be the case if everything they did was "like" what everyone else was doing. It is a communist theory that the masses are all the same, all like. Yet, even snowflakes are "like", yet they are all different. There is no equivalency in Nature, no two people are "like". Therefore, since "like" is a nebulous concept that corresponds to nothing in reality, the assertion you've posted is
misleading, at best.

But perhaps it would be good to define what they exactly mean by the word "attract". Also, "disharmonious" is used, which implies the existence of some measure of harmony with respect to thoughts. How does one thought harmonize ? Is the word being used as in addition of frequency, such as in an LC-series or parallel circuit, or music ? If not, then what ? Also, the word "imbalance". Another vague and indefinite undefined term. It implies balance of thought, but how exactly does one "balance" one thought against another ? For true balance on the scale, each pan has the same weight in it. How to measure the force of thought ? But, are any two thoughts exactly the same ? No, so the idea of balance of thoughts corresponds to nothing in reality either.

Articles like that, to me, are worthless, fanciful sophistry that "attracts" or appeals to a particular fraction of society, while using undefined terms. Like a snake-oil salesman attracts a certain segment. As with all things, there is no simple rule like "like attracts like" that can be relied on as having any predictive power, which is a main aim of scientific or other understanding. There are many other factors. The refugees from Syria do not go to Europe because, "like attracts like" - they want refuge and a handout. Many people are "like" in that regard, but not all. There are no absolutes in anything
