You already got a good reply so I limit myself to the rest not mentioned there, which is just chlorella.
I will not make any claims about what it does. Other people claim it takes up mercury in the gut, usually without proof. It *does* indeed take up heavy metals outside the body - chlorella is used to clean up industrial sites, for example. I have yet to see anybody actually *prove* it works the same inside the body, which is a completely different environment.
But no matter, I found it helped me. I also ran a few experiments (going on and off for a few weeks at a time, and also one time comparing with the effect of activated medical charcoal - something used to treat acute poisonings and known to official medicine to actually work and to do so well in that context. Whatever it does, if it indeed takes up mercury that gets into the gut it does so *only* in the gut. It is NOT a replacement for a chelator!
And it is vital to get CLEAN chlorella. As I said, it's been proven to take up heavy metals in nature - so I would think twice about "free-range chlorella" from Asia, not exactly known for being environmentally conscious and with headlines about at least 1/3 of the inland waters of China contaminated with heavy metals...
I get my Chlorella from algomed.de. Part of a French agro-conglomerate they produce chlorella in miles long glass tubes in Germany, so it is guaranteed to be free of contaminants.
However, no idea about where to get similar quality in the US. And its expensive. It's the largest item by far of all I had to pay for the last 5.5 years, even before DMSA.
The best protocol for safely(!) removing Amalgams involves a low-rpm turbine (my dentist used mostly leverage and almost no drilling to get those fillings out), very good suction (the "Cleanup" system - http://iaomt.org/information-gallery/online-store/iaomt-store/clean/), occasional flushing with sodium thiosulfate (very cheap! - binds heavy metals. NOT a chelator, but it does work well "outside" and the cavity of the mouth is "outside"), supplemental air.

PS: Only ONE piece of advice for the relationship between you and the doctor: do whatever, but whatever happens, DON'T MAKE IT AWKWARD. What that means is for you to figure out, because it depends. It IS possible to be 100% open about your intentions and yet work with a dentist (first) or doctor (later, "detox") who don't believe in the reasons you give. They are willing to go along with things they don't believe in, IF you are reasonable and don't expect to pretend to believe it. For example, after 1.5 years me and my doctor (inner medicine specialist) agreed that we left the area of proven medicine and that he can't really advice me any more - but that he would continue to treat me, but his role would now be to prevent me from hurting myself. It was MY experiment, he was in no position to recommend anything because there were no good and well-accepted studies.
Just don't pretend you know what you are doing when it's clear to a professional that you don't. The reason I gave was: I have no idea if it works. All I know is nothing else did. It's an experiment, it's cheap, next to zero danger, less so than for most approved medical treatments. I find nothing more awkward than reading forum posts of people who "feel the mercury moving!!!". YOU IDIOTS - I want to yell, all you do is "feel BAD" - how do you translate that to "feeling mercury"? What does that even mean? How can you feel "mercury"? So when you feel something say what you feel, do NOT try to interpret it in terms of "mercury". Your doctor will be grateful not to have to talk to yet another lunatic patient with an incredibly vivid imagination and zero medical knowledge.
