Read your bible... the stories are different for everyone.

You have to remember, I think that salvation is offered to everyone. I just know that not everyone will accept the truth about Jesus. Jonah could have still said No to God and simply died a fishy death. However his flesh yielded to what God wanted for him. Was God's Spirit involved in all that was going on at the time with Jonah? Yes. Did the thought of dying and then seeing God face to face help in some of that flesh yielding...I would think so.
