Using white vinegar won't be as effective as using apple cider vinegar because it doesn't contain the beneficial enzymes, proteins. Sure it may smell worse but its a small price to pay if it is more effective. The sediment at the bottom of a bottle of acv includes all of the aforementioned added benefits to battle the flakes, redness and scaling
