I believe what the lady was trying to explain was since she was low on sodium from a low sodium diet her lymph nodes took the first hit of depletion. Yes electrolytes do become unbalanced with in the blood system. If you starve yourself to death, eventually you loss potassium and sodium which both are electrolyte compounds that are surrounded by oxgen and hydrogen molecules which encapulate the Na and K atoms from reacting with any other atom. Electrolytes are carried through the blood and lymph system and are utilized by the body for electrical current in biochemical activity and neurological activities. Any bodily system can be thrown off balance. Sodium and potassium are used for almost every metabolic reaction. That makes sense the lymph nodes would be affected first, just as the tonsils are first line defense system. The body has priority levels with in the system. Brains area of breathing/heart beating etc will be the last bodily system the mind will stop flowing blood to. But your body will start eating itself to stay alive. Now That's full blown sodium deficiency. If the body is limited it will selectively start cutting off areas of the body it can survive without from superficial toes all the way to your frontal lobe brain section that controls social skills and short term memory.
