Nope, nope, nope. Synthetic progestin is completely different from progesterone. It messes up your progesterone receptors, inspires your body to stop producing progesterone, and may cause difficulty using it even after you get this horrible thing taken out of your body. Also, progestin is fat soluble, so your body encapsulates it in fat--apparently in an attempt to protect your organs, esp the liver--and stores it very long term. As you do get it out, it rereleases the toxin, causing a refresher in the symptoms. Plus, the fat storing progestin is extremely difficult to get rid of, and several people I've read about online have also reported that diet and excercise just leads to weight gain no matter what you do. I've had debilitating symptoms to this day, over a year after removal, and I still can barely function. The once successful business I had built up over several years is now barely enough to pay rent, bills, food. The only reason my life isn't in even more shambles to the point of losing partner/family/friends (though it's pretty close, and I get a lot of admonitions about how selfish I am--and that's just the ones I know about) is because I've given up on trying to talk to anyone about how I feel. So even though I'm an angry, depressive, silent, lethargic mess, they just project my previously vibrant self onto me, and I've stopped trying to correct them because having to argue with other people about why my problems are simultaneously all in my head AND a result of my (previously nonexistent) laziness just provides further fodder for the suicidal ideation that this poison actually chemically causes the brain to produce. So yeah, several women with no history of Depression have spontaneously killed themselves. And that's just the ones who knew to attribute their symptoms to their birth control.
