Today was challenging. It was day 17, and I felt fatigued and pretty useless pretty much all day. This made it so I couldn't accomplish some work things that I wanted to accomplish.

I also have been experiencing chest pains since last night, which frightened me, even though I read that chest pain is not unusual during a water fast. Tonight I got my friend to drive me to Target for some things, since I didn't feel comfortable driving. After walking around the store on the fairly short trip I began to feel worse and worse. My chest was hurting and I was fatigued and by the time we got to the checkout my ears were doing that thing they've been doing intermittently while I've been fasting, where they suddenly become muffled. I felt like the whole world was being shut out and like I might pass out. So we sat in the closed Target cafe not speaking for about 40 minutes until I felt like I could leave. In moments like these I feel panicky because I'm not sure who to go to if something goes wrong. But I guess the chest pain is normal, and my resting pulse is normal. I've been unable to find any info about the ear thing, but it doesn't seem very threatening (except when accompanying the other symptoms).

I don't really think my fingers are any better today, though my roommate said she thought maybe they were. But I still haven't had any pain outside of my fingers for the past few days, and the pain in my hands now is still pretty minimal. I just wish the swelling would pass.

In other news - I'm not really sure if this is fasting related since to my memory I noticed it a few days before I started fasting - but my nose has been producing extraordinary amounts of hard, dark green snot. This without evidence of a cold or anything. Sometimes it subsides for a day or two but then it comes back. My best guess as a non-scientist is that it may have something to do with my high count of neutrophils that showed up on the blood test. I read that neutrophils are what turn your snot green. Just a mystifying observation I thought I'd share with you, internet. You're welcome.

Oh - question: Long ago I scheduled a deep tissue massage for this Wednesday, which is going to turn out to be day 19 of this fast. Is it advisable to get deep tissue massage at this point in the fast? Or would it release more toxins than could effectively be processed at once? I haven't been able to locate a conclusive answer to this question. I could also request that they be gentler, though I usually like lots of pressure.
