To Trapper and Stargazer…

''this is a pre-existing condition that was brought to light''

That's what I think too Trapper. I don't think Iodine caused it. It was there for God knows how long.

I was never tested for antibodies before in my life.

But, I've been anemic of at least 19 years and have had severe menstrual cramps since the first year I started getting my periods. With no physical cause (no endometriosis, etc).

Those two problems are signs of Hashimoto's.

And have leaky gut, gluten intolerance since I was 17 yo but only figured it out 20 years later. That's many years of damage.

I think the condition was brought to light by me seeking assistance with Iodine with the Functionnal Doctor. I wasn't excepting she'd advise me to stop though. I'm listening to her, but I will get on it again, later. Right now, I'm devastated by this diagnosis, I'm scared of what's to come, the prognostic. Getting the antibodies down with selenium is great plan, let's see if it works.

I was talking with my uncle-in-law's wife last night and she has Coeliac. Her family Dr (same as mine!), told her there is no way to get the antibodies down. I was surprised to hear that. That is what conventional Dr think.

Dr Browstein suggest to take selenium only, for two weeks, prior to starting Iodine if you suspect you have Hashimoto's. I did that. But maybe 200mg was not enough.

I think the Functionnal Dr has a good plan with selenium, L-glutamine, zinc and P5P. I'm thinking about following a autoimmune diet. I'm pretty close to it, but eating eggs….

Life sure knows how to throw a curveball. ;0)
