1. For some reason I thought you were in Georgia.
2. As I have pointed out before, 60601 does not require transient protection that is superior to that in other standards (the most common being 60950).
60601 requires a lower maximum leakage current compared to 60950. This leakage current is a) a steady-state condition, not related to transients in any way; and b) handled by bypass capacitor selection, not transformer design.
But wait, there's more. Because a 60601 supply has a *higher* transient impedance to earth ground (a consequence of the required lower leakage current), it actually is ***more*** "dangerous" than a standard supply; dangerous in your context, the ability to transfer an input transient to the output.
