This is partly follow on to Trapper's experience treating the subsequent wound incurred in wake of spider bite; also partly general purpose passing on old time remedy info Technically such a spider bite was not a wound per se' in the beginning, i think, but eventually became a wound after a few weeks of festering and then was altered into a different ... combo wound after office surgery by an MD.

i do not know for sure who all deserves's credit for inventing the formula that in the present I know as B & W salve .... back in the day from which it originated practical doctors "country doctors" ..... herbalists ... were probably less focused on being credited and more focused on collaborating and or adding on to recipes used by peers as well as those who went before them with success. The batch I have was purchased close to 10 years ago, well cared for since then and used often all the while for healing all sorts of wounds involving burns and not, nicks, cuts, scrapes, gashes tiny, small and towards medium severity. The formula is based on JR Christopher's and adapted ... improved upon in more recent years by a man for whom MH prefers or once preferred not be named in public. Among the ingredients listed on the jar: lanolin; comfrey; white oak bark;lobelia; myrrh; olive oil; aloe vera; wheatgerm; honey; vegetable glycerin and bees wax. By word of mouth Ive been told that cayenne is among the ingredients not listed.

Personally i think it would be nice to have a fresh thread summarizing steps to be taken if when somebody incurs BRB bite of brown recluse; by people with firsthand experience preventing such a wound from developing into what Trapper experienced. The thread could also benefit from a summary with clarity added to all the advice given after the wound progressed from bite to ....... not sure what it became, officially ....... infected necrotic enflamed systemic human-eating will take months to recover 'itis. Whether the sound advice should include instructions on how to zap with a lawnmower electrical circuit, and or herb this dmso that i heard it helped my cousin's sister's ex-wife's adopted boy maybe, if it is known to help BRB would be nice to have a cleaner record for successfully treating.
