I have known two people with schizoaffective/bipolar disorder. One was a landlady. She was super productive and stayed on the manic side, but she sure got a lot done. Her relationship with her husband was a bit strange, but they made it work. To my knowledge she didn't hear voices.

The other is a closer friend and I take him to the doctor. The doctor tries to tell him he hears voices but he says he doesn't. He may be misdiagnosed. I don't know. They switched his meds which doesn't seem good, but I guess he has to go with it a while.

Anyway neither of these acquaintances hear voices. Unless they don't want to say, but they never seem to. One was manic the other normal but occassionally depressed. Not manic. I think schizoaffective disorder is a fairly new diagnosis. I am not sure that they can just lump everyone they can't figure out into that category. If someone has schizophrenia, it is a different treatment protocol. Hearing voices sounds like something you are pretty much at peace with. Are there drugs that quiet that down?
