Its an old post but i'll add this info anyway in case someone else comes across it...

If a glandular doesnt contain thyroxine, then it doesnt contain T4 hormone. But it does contain nutrients to nourish your thyroid so that it can make the T4 itself. This may not be enough if someone has advanced hypothyroidism. But it may be enough to boost the thyroid back towards homeostasis in the case of mild or sub clinical, provided other prolems are addressed. Armour has T4 and T3 so it is important to make that distinction, as the scope is a little different.

Above all, tests should be done for Hashimoto's - eg antibodies for tpo and tg. If hashimotos is present, the immune system will continue to attack to thyroid even if hormone supplimentation get the hormones back to normal. (Perhaps Antibodies could reduce if increased thyroid hormones boost the immune system enough to clear infectious triggers) Furthermore, for some people glandulars can perpetuate the autoimümune attack because of their similarity to our tissue. In this case synthetic versions shouln't be ruled out.

The focus should be on getting to the root cause of the disease. That is - finding the trigger, healing the gut and removing toxicity to repair the immune system.
