Very true, what you say here, especially on how it affects one's metabolism. Also, I agree on the discrepancies in the online charts. I posted a similar question on other health-forums before on whether dark grapes were acid or alkaline forming, and could get no answer. After some experimenting, I found they did have an alkalising effect after all.

While raw, alkalising foods are great, they are of no use if not metabolised and absorbed well, for which we needs fats and whole grain as well. I find red rice (not even brown) very good for this. It may be ok to lay off on grain if on an intense detox mechanism while battling a condition and substitute healthy fats and oils instead; but if in maintenance mode, it may be good to include red rice, sorghum, quinoa, etc., per one's choice as they suit each one differently.
