I've had 2 biopsies and about 5 cultures, and all were negative.. so I'm really at a loss why it's assumed that treatment should target bacteria, when in the forums all you find are people like me who have tried several Antibiotics (Rifampin+Clinda, Dapsone, Siprox, Minocycline, etc) with no success.

I'm currently into my 6th week of minocycline, and I don't feel it is making a difference. Isostretinoin (for 6 months) solved my chronic scalp folliculitis for a year, but triggered a condition called Folliculitis Decalvans, which is basically worse. So now I'm dealing (barely) with both. I'm losing my mind, and I'm not bluffing.

I've been to 3 dermatologists, 2 GPs and a specialist in infectious diseases. All are clueless, and the dermatologists are the least innovative people I have ever known. All they do is read up on some literature, and read it loud to me.. something which I could do on my own frankly. When that doesn't work (1.5 years now), they give up and keep throwing the same stuff already tried at you, like it's going to work someday. In the meantime, my liver and cholesterol have had a couple of scares.. so it feels like I'm trying to find a cure with poison.

Unfortunately, failure stories are far more found on the internet than success ones. Why? Because only desperate people like me "need to be "blogging around" about the problem. I'm so grateful to anyone who has shared a success story and I promise I'll share mine if I ever have one to share.

I'm also sharing another blog maybe we link up some pieces which are running around on the internet:
