Neither. It just *is*. Individual lab values are next to meaningless unless they themselves ARE a problem. Your Hg value is not in itself a problem (just as an example, >100 without provocation by a chelating agent would raise alarms because that would indicate you are experiencing a severe acute poisoning), but as a measure of your (stored) body burden it is next to completely useless.
