I took pet PP for tapeworm. It quieted everything in my gut for about 12 hrs but the entire worm did not come out.

Hope it worked for you and your son.
Here are some other ideas if you need:

from what I can see there are 3 hard to get but sort of available meds for tape worm.

Niclosamide
Nitazoxanide
Quinacrine HCL

There is another treatment that I've read is used in Japan mostly

Gastrografin
