I finally saw an integrative doctor in the town and the first thing he tested was my urine and saliva Iodine levels. I had 0 to 1 ppm of Iodine in both urine and saliva while the optimal value is at 15 ppm.
Some of you may remember the old post I created where I asked about Iodine metabolism dysfunction. My hair elements test revealed ridiculously high amount of iodine and selenium. There are two possibilities for this:
1. Iodine and selenium are not being metabolized at all and getting excreted/wasted via hair
2. The shampoo I am using may contain selenium and iodine. This is a possibility as my shampoo advertises to contain "natural minerals." Unfortunately, the shampoo is made in Asia and does not disclose full ingredients.
I am not even concerned about hair iodine level. Maybe I should be, but it seems like essentially zero body iodine level is more important to deal with. Doctor also mentioned that I may be very high in bromide, chloride, and fluoride, given I am already high in other heavy metals (mercury, aluminum, barium). Sadly, that would explain why I had severe negative reactions to iodine supplements earlier.
Now that I finally realize that my body surely needs iodine, I would like to start iodine protocol with minimal detox effect. Is there anything else than infrared sauna and selenium to minimize detox of fluoride, chloride, and bromide? Also, is Lugol the only way of supplementing iodine? If there is a good post I should read, please share. Thank you so much in advance.
