If they are not treating people after hyperinfection of strongyloides because they think it is hopeless, they should at least be honest and talk about it the way people with a cancer diagnosis have the dignity of being explained how the disease will likely unfold until death. Instead refusing to diagnose strongyloides because there are no reliable tests is so hopeless, so frightening.
