Constipation is defined as infrequent bowel movements.

Many people who need to strain think of this condition as synonymous with constipation. Be they loose or tight, both are forms of constipation. Thanks for this confusion is at least in part due to mainstream, particularly the food & drug industry and advertising therein that produce different products for targeting strain relief and loose relief as distinctly separate segments of the overall market.

There is a decent chance that taking steps to address the condition of infrequency might improve or at least change the separate symptoms you notice with respect to big BMs that come with big urge versus the little that come with little.
