Friends;
I've been on iodine supplementation for approximately a year after being diagnosed with iodine deficiency via urinalysis (iodine loading test).
Per my internist's conversations with Dr. Flechas, I was urged to increase my iodine dose from 12.5 to 50 mg due to my body's inability to absorb iodine (flouride and bromine poisoning).
Long story short, I'm now with a new doctor, who conducted a TSH High Sensitivity test, and now my TSH levels are tanked (hyperthyroidism). I've seen documentation both for and against the continued use of iodine. The new doctor wants to send me to an endocrinologist.
What are your thougts? Do I slowly wean off the iodine therapy, or simply stop it cold turkey?
