You can tell by what he said that the guy went into this knowing he was going to ruffle feathers. However, I don't understand firing him over it, unless they told him what subject matter to talk about and he went another direction.
I have not seen either movie. I wonder if he has. He starts out talking about people in general who like violence because of how much money one movie made over the other, but I would have been more impressed if he had showed how many christians went to see these movies. I think he would have made a better point.
Perhaps some can not see what he said wrong. It had nothing to do with war or hatred or anything like that. I have never heard any of my pastors ever say anything that would sound like we should be for war. We do pray for our soldiers....but that is not the same thing. I don't know christians that want to be at war. Or even associate patriotism with war. We pray for all people concerned.
What he said wrong was that he criticized christians in general. I'm not saying he was wrong to do so...I'm just saying most christians have never stepped foot into a debate forum before. They are only exposed to what they believe on a regular basis. Most would be appalled at what they see people believe today to be honest. Some may call that brainwashed...but it's not. Christians are no different than the Amish. They have created their own heaven, within the world to live in. They are happy there.
All this guy did was tell them to step outside their little kingdom and see the ugly, the wretched, the unclean world they had left behind. Bible times heroes did not live our USA kind of life after Jesus died. They were persecuted, tortured and yet they still had joy in the midst of all that evil. They still preached and taught the gospel above all things.
It will be interesting to see if christians who have led a protected life will be able to stay "joyful" in the midst of the evil that is in the world.
