To the original poster, it will never, ever, EVER "get better," no matter what he says, promises, or insists.

And, you did not deserve what has been done to you.

The poster, above, is also spot-on because the violence will only get worse. I cannot count the number of individuals who either ended up with life-altering injuries or upon a morgue slab when they left their abusers, and when they didn't.

When you prepare to leave, contact your local domestic violence hotline and they will help you to create a safe exit strategy. DO NOT tell anyone about your plans. Even children - don't attempt to "prepare" them to leave because a child's precious vulnerabilities will be tested to a degree that is unfathomable when it comes to appeasing an abuser.
