Yes mate. You can buy elemental diet formula's but they are just stupidly expensive eg Vivonex. An elemental diet is a hypoallergenic diet. Effectively ingesting all the sugars you would normally ingest per day but without inflammatory proteins. My one cost me about £20 to do minus protein source (you'll see why I didn't use it below).
I used Trehalose, which is a hypoallergenic slow release starch, mixed with dextrose and table sugar. 40g trehalose, 10g dextrose and 10g table Sugar per meal. Out of interest, which country are you from? Also I'd love to hear a little bit more about your symptoms as obviously the more people I know with very similar issues the better!
The first time I did it for 8 days, 6 of those days I didn't use a hypoallegenic amino acids formula as my protein source as I felt I was reacting to it.. Funnily enough on the 8th day of being on this diet I wasnt feeling any better, I was still getting hypoglycemic really easily and feeling crappy, so I gave up, thinking bollocks its not worked, lets go back into my carb addict cycle of stuffing my face with all sorts of crap. It took about 2 days of eating crap for my symptoms to fully die down and for me to notice the results. All of a sudden I was like hang on a sec...I am much more calm, much more able to handle stress, constant wired symptom had gone about 90% (felt like I was in a warm bath, I could just feel like It wasn't activated at all really) and I was hardly feeling the effects of reacting to all this crap I was eating, I was still reacting to it but it was MUCH more subtle and effected my brain and nervous system much less.
On my second 8 day trial I did use the amino acids formula throughout and didn't get the same results.
For further investigation for your issues I'd look into:
- A form of Mast Cell Disease (MCAS or Mastocytosis)
- Eosinophilic Gastroenteritis
- Histamine Intolerance
- Rare form of epilepsy (NEAD)
Keep in touch.
All the best,
Jamie
