Unless you are using titanium, then at least some of the metals from the electrodes will be absorbed into the skin which is not good.

Always place a wet white paper towel or cloth between the metal of the electrode and your skin, Soak the paper towel with salt water to improve conductivity, and throw it away at the end of the session.
