Sorry if I misspoke. I don't recall saying baking soda "stilled" the fibers...
But
I think you need to reconsider your criteria for an effective treatment: if we can't kill it, we can at least reduce its impact.

Essential oils are extremely complex. The best, short answer I can offer: if a scent has associations with positive experiences in your mind, it can be healing and strengthening for you.

Morg can become resistant to most substances intended as repellants...lavender fell off the list on the first day...eucalyptus and mint shortly thereafter. The hold-outs: gerainium and neem, but even those cannot be used daily without resistance developing.
