During the course of a lifetime our bodies make progressively fewer of the enzymes needed for proper digestion/assimilation of nutrients.
The result is starvation, which is called aging, and ends in death.
This is "normal".

The needed enzymes are present in raw fresh food, and are destroyed by cooking.
