I have suffered from allergies most of my life. I have had allergy testing done twice. I took sublingual drops after the first test, but they did not help. A few years later I was tested again. This time I took weekly shots from needles. It did not help. I have taken pretty much every anti-histamine known to human kind. Only one was ever helpful: Rhondec. However, if I took it, I knew I had to be at home because it would knock me out, and I would sleep for several hours. It has since been reformulated and does not make me sleepy, but it also does not help with my allergies.

I also have a deviated septum and have considered surgery to have it straightened, but somehow I just cannot go through with it. So, I continue to suffer from allergies, and if the allergens are really bad, I end up with sinusitis and an infection. At that point, the only thing that helps is an Antibiotic and prednisone. After my last infection, the doctor suggested I try a neti pot. I had heard about them for years but never relished the idea of pouring water through my nose. However, I decided it was time I gave it a try, so I purchased a net pot and the saline/baking soda packets.

I have been using the neti pot for a few days, and so far, I do not see any effect on my allergies. I walked at the park today where there are tons of trees. It was windy, and once I returned home, I began sneezing. I used the neti pot again, but again I see no real effect on my sinuses.

Have any of you who have a lot of allergies and sinusitis found that a neti pot really helped the allergies? If so, how long did you have to use the neti pot until it had an appreciable effect? Thanks.
