When you say you know your not B12 or D deficient, how is that? What were your most recent B12 numbers?

Also note B12 can not perform all its functions alone, folate is an essential co nutrient to B12. High folate levels can also mask low B12 levels.

Its also quite possible to have normal B12 levels but still suffer from B12 deficiency due to various genetic traits. To truly judge your B12 sufficiency one should also know where their serum and urine MMA levels and Plasma homocystine levels which are biochemical markers of b12 dependant enzyme activity.

Serum holotranscobalamin II (halo TC) is a test to measure b12 binding proteins and can also help to identify B12 metabolism issues.

As soon as you put blinders on and say this level or that level is fine you shut the door to discovery.

People CAN and do have normal B12 levels but are still b12 deficient because nutrients dont work in a vacuum. Many biochemical processes in the body take place for them to be used for various things so just because you have normal B12 levels doesnt mean your body is actually able to make use of it.

As for what causes TSH rise, its been covered many times. TSH rises mainly for 2 reasons, 1) to promot creation of T4 2) prompt creation of NIS symporters. Both of these are transitory rises that should, in time go back down once the symporter and T4 reach what your body deems as normal.

Also has been previously mentioned 6-12 months for sufficiency is just a ballpark, everyone is different and while 12 months may be fine for one person it may not be long enough for you.
