Cobalamin = pure form of b12

I hate to tell you but one shot a year is no where near enough, any competent doc would know that. The standard therapy is 1 shot a month and even then in some cases that is not nearly enough due to genetic predisposition or heavy metal retention.

high folate levels can actually mask a b12 deficiency and so can a couple other things. B12 is cheap and difficult to take too much. The fact it binds to and helps the body remove heavy metals like mercury means a little extra is not a bad thing at all. So you abnormally high levels in the past could have been a false high due to other factors.

The problems with docs who want to see numbers from labs is they often use that as their guide and focus on that more than the results or the symptoms their patient has.

It sounds to me like your doc, even though MD/ND may has blinders on or at least has some very powerful preconceived notions I feel are wrong. Your b12 numbers are low. Someone up on b12 deficiency would know that permanent neurological damage can and does occur at levels below 500 but above lab range low water mark. The data is all out there for anyone to find if they are so inclined. I would be seriously suspicious of anyone's, especially a professional MD/ND who didnt see huge red flags when you B12 levels were low OR understand false highs can be caused by other nutrients OR realize that in some cases high B12 levels can be an indicator of genetic abnormalities that prevent the body from making use of the b12 thats in play.

At the end of the day, I have found I am my own best doctor when it comes to general health and nutrition. I know my symptoms, I know whats changed. I can try supplements and monitor changes without having to pay for the office visit since, at least here in the US, pretty much anyone can easily order and get their own labs.

Each to their own, I wish you the best but I dont have a dog in this fight. Your doc can have a stellar resume but when he is missing things I, as a layman, would consider obvious red flags, I would seriously question how your spending your hard earned money.
