Are you really surprised? The Paleo people are just as cult-like as they accuse others to be and will apologize for their diet, such as make their diet lifestyle sound wide and inclusive instead of narrow and overly strict so as to avoid turning off potential converts.

As much as they want to say Paleo is not low-carb, we all know it is.
