Basic carbon filters do not remove chlorine from the water. I buy high Alkaline Water of 9.5ph or greater. Not electric ionized... Natural water only. This water will not change the properties of the CS. Using tap water would be adding toxins into the mix. Chlorine is not the only deadly substance in the water. I also add wheatgrass to my dogs diet. Works wonders for any ailments. Best of luck!
