Its true, allicin is the chemical in garlic that gives it its smell, and also the same chemical that has the most homeopathic propertie. In conclusion no allicin no point... I use garlic for everything, ear infections, colds, and any other infection i may get. On the skin i just make sure to use a good soap with hot water and maybe some lemon juice after. If swallowing it (i take three cloves a day) make sure to have some parsley on hand and chew a few stalks of that for fresh breath... Hope this helps.. :0)
