maybe he has low testosterone but much higher DHT. Saw Palmetto is sometimes taken to inhibit the enzyme, 5aReductase, that is involved in conversion of T to DHT.

Low T is not uncommonly reported in heavy metal detox groups. For example this recent post with hormone test results by a 20-something with low sex drive, etc.
