I had the same reaction to my eczema. I suppose it depends on how sensitive your skin is. My friend put it on the ends of her hair, not her root, and it resulted in her scalp becoming raw and swollen. I had also once put some on my eyelashes and when I woke up, my eyelids and cheeks were red and raw. I have to use everything unscented. I have tried lye soap but it only drys my skin out. I had also been cunsulted to try Prednisone, but I heard that it could cause liver damage. I hope for your (and everyone else with eczema) sake that there is something for this wretched skin condition.
