Iodine does have an effect on the brain, but in a good way. It helps resolve brain fog for one thing. You have so many issues that makes it difficult to answer.

I agree with Stalagmight that your DH is trying to improve his health. Yes Macho Men do tend to go overboard' IMO, be patient with him and I'm sure he will even things out sooner or later. At least he is trying before it is too late, not such a bad thing.
