I know there are certain rules about what can and cannot be offered as advise in this particular forum. so I will try and not get anyone in trouble or ask the wrong things. For years I have heard about the benefits of Iodine but was afraid to try it. Eons ago, despite having no positive tests, a purported hormone specialist I saw in Texas diagnosed me with hypothyroid, with possible Hashi and put me on the lowest dose of Armour. My body flipped out and I went off of it. That was about 14 years ago. I never tried it again. Since then, every test for hypo has come back normal, even all the rare tests that most docs never give.
I am on no Rx drugs, only natural supps. I have been reading over all of the Iodine recommended literature and feel overwhelmed. I have been overwhelmed with my health issues before this and now I am even more overwhelmed. I have asked my ND about Iodine in the past, but she didn't seem to think I needed it. That being said, she is very open-minded and will listen to me, if I decide to pursue this.
The first thing I feel confused about is which form to take. Some are team Lugols, others are Team SSKI . Both are supposed to help different parts of the body, but my entire body is under siege. Therefore, I have no idea which one to take.
Past and current diagnoses have been or are: candida, parasites, hypo (though we don't think I am despite the symptoms), adrenal fatigue, Lyme disease, Epstein-Barr, MTHFR, heavy metal issues, clotting disorder, possible Lupus, some kind of mixed connective tissue disease, bad arthritis, Perimenopause and leaky gut. I have horrible muscle and joint pain, as well as nightly leg and foot spasms, despite taking a ton of CALM magnesium before bed, heart palps with occasional tachycardia (have seen two different cardiologists and they say my heart is fine), horrible brain fog, fingers are looking gnarled rapidly from the arthritis, horrible brain fog, dizziness, vertigo episodes, panic attacks, and way too many symptoms to list here. My mom died last year and between that and being at my wits end with my health, I feel very emotionally fragile. Despite being sick for nearly two decades, nothing has helped. I need real answers and hope and the thought of having to take a whole new laundry list of supps, when I am already on a ton of them also overwhelms me. If anyone can offer some advice beyond the recommended reading I was given, I would be truly grateful. Thanks.
