Maybe the withdrawal made you hyperthyroid.

When I was playing around with dosages, I found that it made me hypo when I took little and other times hyper when I took more (usually over 60 mg ingested)
I don't know if you're ingesting it or painting, but painting with Lugol's doesn't seem to do anything for me lol I only felt the effects on my thyroid when I drank the iodine.
