Yes, Iodine cannot repair the irreparable, nor can anything else, by definition.

One may assess whether irreparable damage is present. Or one may assume the issue can be repaired and proceed from there. It is impossible sometimes to get a car out of the ditch when the wheels are spinning without something to provide traction, or a strong winch. Some keep spinning the wheels, hoping to get out. Sometimes if they over-rev the engine during the process, a piston rod bearing will fail.

It can be a matter of Faith in believing that God made the body able to heal itself if given what it needs to do so, and provided an absence of things which prevents it from doing so.

The option of throwing in the towel is always there, for anybody, in anything they do, or attempt. It is a matter of choice, personal perseverance plays a role. But after all we are all only human too, and each of us has our limits. There are things I have given up on after much effort, it was my personal choice to stop trying.

In extreme cases, yes, there is no hope or possibility of a remedy. One hopes they are not in this classification.

But this is where the power of intent can comes in. If one truly believes they will be healed, there is a good chance that they will. God never provides a problem without also providing the possibility of a solution. God is everywhere, and that means God is within both you, and I.
