I've just started on a candida diet. Only week two, but I'm feeling a little better already. The biggest complaint for me is a lack of energy since I'm eating little protein and lots of fibrous veggies. As far as the night sweats, I read that it's linked to the Sugar our bodies need to function. For myself, I have been sweating at night for years (6 out of 7 nights), which was only relieved if I had many alcoholic drinks the night before. All along I thought it was caused by stress, and that the alcohol was putting my mind at ease. Discovered last night that it was because I was stocking myself up with Sugar for my body to use while I slept. For a lot of people with this candida overgrowth, they suffer from hypoglycemia, since the candida uses up so much sugar. During the day, we combat the sluggishness from the hypoglycemia by eating often to keep our Sugar levels up. At night, our body must produce sugar to feed itself, and does so using our thyroid gland. As a result, we get hot. Our adrenalin glands are meant for intense situations (fight or flight) therefore, when it produces sugars for our organs to use to keep us alive, it creates a good amount of heat while we sleep, thus we sweat. You may be experiencing this now, with having a lack of sugar in your diet. Wish I could give you some advice as to how to relieve it.... Maybe have a buckwheat muffin before bedtime (one of the few grains on my diet since it's low on the glycemic index). Hope this helps.
