IMO and my experience more or less similar to yours gut issues are the root cause. Did you have the chance to have a decent stool test?
Indeed some functional issues can run in the familly but more frequent familly shares common infections. Then chronic ones create more problems like insulin problems adrenals low thyroid histamine issues ...sometimes histamine is a big issue.
I would try finding whats wrong in my gut
